Have you ever driven home after work and caught yourself replaying the same conversation over and over?
You think about what you should have said, what they meant, or how the meeting could have gone differently. Before you know it, you're eating dinner with your family while you're still mentally sitting in that conference room. Although the meeting only lasted 30 minutes, in your mind, it’s lasting all day.
Pay attention to what you keep thinking about this week. If you are holding on to past conversations, journal about it so you can separate it from your mind and move on.

Three things you can do today if this happens to you:
- Notice which conversation left you carrying hot coals that are not doing you any good.
- Before your next meeting, check your mental backpack to make sure you aren’t carrying baggage from a previous interaction or meeting.
- If you are with your family and thinking of other things, write them down, set them aside, and pick them back up when you are alone again. The moments with your family will not return so make them count!
