Transcript: What are the things you need to watch out for as someone who is a self-aware leader? It's not easy. |
One of the things that you want to watch out for is when you're always asking why. “Why did this happen? Why did I behave this way? Why did this relationship go sideways? Why did the conversation turn sour?”
All of these whys that make you self-aware can also turn you into a ruminating, loathing person that actually gets stuck in the valley with the whys. And you get stuck in this hole when you keep asking why, why, why, why, why.
It's good to ask why. Just don't get stuck and don't ruminate. Please resist those things. And what you can do if you find yourself doing that is simply figure out that you're living in the past and then also figure out the plan for the future. Figure out how to resolve whatever happened, right? If you want to resolve it.
| The other thing is that with power, sometimes comes overconfidence. Even with self-awareness. When you think you're incredibly self-aware and you're putting out these airs of overconfidence and honestly people are just afraid to tell you anything because you know it all. And you're not only gonna not know it all but they're gonna keep things from you and you're never gonna grow. So then you will stop being as self-aware. that's another big pitfall. |
