Have you ever wondered what people say about you after you leave the room?
I think most of us would like to believe it sounds pretty close to how we see ourselves. “She’s direct.” “He gets things done.” “She has high standards.” “He knows what he wants.” Then you hear how someone else describes the exact same behavior and suddenly direct sounds harsh, high standards feel impossible, and getting things done feels like running everyone over.
That’s the funny thing about behavior. We know what we meant, while everyone else only knows what they experienced, and sometimes there’s a pretty big space between the two.

- Who do you think people get when you walk into the room, and who do they actually get?
- Pay attention to how people respond to you and ask someone you trust what they see.
- Choose one behavior you could change. Sometimes, one small shift in how you show up can change a whole lot around you.
